Greetings,
The Haitian Academy for the Performing Arts (H.A.F.T.P.A) was developed to be a prestigious organization that would raise awareness of Haitian fine arts. H.A.F.T.P.A 's vision is to recognize Haitians for their contributions in the production and promotion of music, film, and dance.
Many years ago, Mr. Nemours Jean Baptiste had a vision that has revitalized our music with a new style, known as Compas and renewed our reputation as one of the world's great musical beats.
H.A.F.T.P.A has introduced an event, which shall be held annually, named COMPAS ON BROADWAY. This event is to recognize and honor the musical accomplishments of Haitian artists. Compas on Broadway shall also introduce new artists, while at the same time, showcasing our very best artists, bands, dancers and composers, through different styles of performances.
The musical contributions and innovative ideas of a large number of Haitian artists, composers and producers, over the last 50 years, have lifted us to new heights. This one big step toward awarding merits to those, who deserve it most, will, I am sure will be embraced by the entire Haitian Music Industry.
This has been a record era for the evolution of the Haitian culture abroad, but the best is yet to come. This award recognizes that much of our success is directly attributable to the efforts of the Haitian musicians. There is every reason to believe that our music could be on its way to being recognized at the top!
I hope you share my excitement about this new endeavor, and that you’ll join us, both as member of the academy, which will earn you the right to vote, and at the different festivities, surrounding Compas on Broadway.
